Given that the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse is going to be ending soon. I am wondering what is going to replace it. To be honest I am a bit worried we will get another drought and not have any more Mickey and Friends cartoons or anything.
One thing I would personally love though is a Detective Mickey show. I've been reading through the comics and I think making Mickey a detective is one of the best utilization of his character since it uses a lot of traits he has such as being smart, problem solving, willingness to help others, and a strong sense of justice and they can easily add on other traits such as his keen sense for detail and observation that he has more in the comics. It is a great way to make him more interesting and expand on his character.
I can even see Mickey going through challenges such as feeling like he has to solve every crime and has such high expectations of himself. The series would be him learning the value of taking care of himself and be aware that he won't be able to fix everything.
Though tbh a big thing I would want is for the Phantom Blot to be a main villain of the series. He gets so underutilized especially in any of the animated media and I would love for him to have a bigger role and for more people to know about him. Heck he could also be kind of a second protagonist and get his own arc about what is he willing to sacrifice to continue his life of crime. They could also introduce other comic only villains too, giving them more attention like how Ducktales did for the Carl Barks/Don Rosa characters.
I actually already have an idea for a pilot that is based off of the first comic with Phantom Blot and maybe I'll share it, if enough people are interested.
Edit: I actually started to work on the idea. Check it out here

I always annoyed whenever people say "mario has no personality". He's fun jovial italian uncle who always eager to cheer others and do the right thing. Why this is considered as problem?
Could it be because people are more into morally ambiguous characters nowadays that characters with a strong sense of justice become obsolete and cliché at this point?
The thing with Mario, is that being the good guy IS his thing. He was intentionally designed to be the jolly and energetic family-friendly character, much like Disney's Mickey Mouse. He exists to fufill the role of the virtuous hero.
Sure, you could flip some of his positive traits into negative ones to make him more interesting (i.e.: His adventurous nature could be also represented as recklessness and a severe lack of self-preservation), but if you remove the fun and jovial energy from Mario, then it's no longer Mario.
Not to mention how humble he is too; you'd think that with all of the years of experience in adventuring and the notoriety that Mario has secured for himself, he would be living in luxury right now, but nope! He lives in a quaint and simple house with his brother Luigi.
He may be competitive and a bit dramatic at times, but he never brags about his exploits, and I'm totally sure that he'd be immensely proud of Princess Peach for saving the Sparkle Theater, just like how he was proud of Luigi for saving him from King Boo more than once.
Plus, do you have any idea how tough it is for me to find an adult character who isn't afraid of being a silly billy? One who is unapologetical and in touch with their inner child? And that are loved for being who they are? Please, I'm collecting those like bugs and latching myself on them.
Besides, if you think Mario is boring, then you might be into Wario instead. He doesn't save worlds or people because it's the right thing to do; he just does it because he's in it for the bag. Wario's expecting a big fat reward at the end, money is his motivation.

About Paradox Prince Sonic
Name: Sonic the Hedgehog
Paradox Cross: Sega and Nintendo x Kingdom Hearts
Occupation: Prince of Sega Castle, Keyblade Master.
Keyblade: Divewing
Family: Queen Aleena (Mother) Manic (Brother) Sonia (Sister)
Species: Hedgehog
World: Sega Castle
Abilities: Super Speed, Homing Attack, Spin Dash, Super Transformation, Chaos Control, Sonic Wind, Keyblade, Dream Jump, Power of Waking.
Background: Coming from a paradox dimension where the worlds of Sega and Nintendo come together in a Kingdom Hearts like universe, this is a Sonic who is both the Prince of Sega Castle and a Keyblade Master, acting as a parallel to King Mickey. Despite having a bit of a cocky attitude like most Sonics, he's still a selfless prince who puts others before himself.
He is one of three children of the queen of Sega Castle, Aleena. While Sonia is the more responsible sibling, and Manic is the most immature, Sonic seems to be a mixture of both, loving to have fun and goof around, but also knowing when to be serious. He also seems to have a better grasp at the Keyblade than Sonia and Manic.
At some point, he was recruited by ARiA to help protect the Multiverse, which he accepts. Whenever he has to leave his dimension, he leaves his siblings and friends in charge of protecting it while he's gone.
He formed a strong rivalry against Scourge (from @fallen-symphony ), and fights against him the most out of all the members of Slur's army. He sometimes mistakes him as his Heartless since he's the most evil and chaotic version of himself he ever met.
He still has a love for chili dogs like any other version of Sonic, and usually visits the Item Creation Shop to grab one.
Sonic is surpised to meet a good version of Dr. Eggman on the team, but is very welcoming of it. Sonic's not one to hold grudges, and treats Mr. Tinker with respect. He also finds it a little funny that an android who looks like Shadow is a childish little cinnamon bun like Terios.
Emerl is happy to have a version of Sonic joining the team, even if it's not the Sonic from his own dimension. Even though his link has moved to Bass Cross Megaman, he still shares special bond with Prince Sonic.
Sonic seems to find hidden potential in Klonoa. Having to Dream Jump in order to learn the Power of Waking and become a Keyblade Master, Sonic can't help but wonder if Dream Travelers have similar abilities...
Having a strong sense of justice and the heart of a benevolent prince, Sonic will do everything he can to help RiFT and ARiA keep the Multiverse safe from Slur's forces and from the darkness.

Heyyyy you mentioned having ocs in a post, I believe…
Do you mind sharing? I like hearing about other people’s ocs 👉👈
OMG YES IM SO GLAD U ASKED
MICKEY
——She is a demon??? I think
——Was intended as part of this little idea I scrapped where several souls get trapped in purgatory because the gods can’t decide where they should go, or something like that, and so they are all just in this blank void slowly going insane together :)
——Each one of them is supposed to embody a concept or a trait of the human psyche in a way
——She symbolizes rage, righteousness, strong justice, hatred, as well as violence and malevolence, if she were a sin she would be Wrath
——Screams a lot, cries a lot, eats a lot, sleeps a lot. Being angry all the time is exhausting for her
——Her existence is just pain
——Frequently violent, favorite weapon is a baseball bat with spikes on the end
——She is chubby and short
——Has ratty, teased up pigtails
——She has a stand (of course) that is a black goopy tar sort of monster, like molten lava that’s all black with fiery, glowing eye sockets or something
Goobie gumba
——don’t have a name for this guy yet
——gender-fluid, all pronouns
——is a shapeshifter
——just a sad, sexy little bitch
——so very sad and sexy
——also has a stand
Old as fuck dude
——no name for him
——he is also in the Shadow Wizard Money Gang (they love casting spells 🪄)
——aka he is also in purgatory
——gay old man, very wise, very kind
——mostly a passive observer of chaos but he will give you a hug if you want
——for some reason I can only imagine him as fucking dumbledore
——but like skinnier and more sad looking
——and with glitter in his beard
——a cynic through and through
——has lost all faith
——has been around too long
——good with kids
——enjoys tarot card reading——he doesn’t believe in all the spiritual mumbo jumbo, he just uses them to pass the time
——has a stand, idk what yet
——someone save this poor man
—
Frankie (evil ver)
——Nasty stinky little man
——Also a demon????
——I hate him so much
——But he is babygirl
——Basically he is a manifestation of me and everything I hate about myself lmao
——Serial killer, cannibal. He likes to torture his victims before they die, it turns him on
——He is more powerful than the others so he can leave the purgatory dimension for brief 24 hour periods. This is how he gets his victims.
——He can’t really control his urges, he’s like an addict
——Little sense for morals, very hedonistic——he values his own pleasure above most things
——He symbolizes lust, gluttony and greed, among other things
——Horny but in a fucked up way
——Long, skinny, lanky, gremlin sized. You can see his ribs through the skin. Bigass fucking feet
——His stand is this grotesque, lovecraftian flesh monster, some beast with many eyes and mouths, covered in some sort of gross liquid like saliva. He can also manifest his stand as a bunch of meaty tentacles, they look like colons/intestines with sharp suckers on the end (think of a sea lamprey)
——Goes into states of feral regression, in which he loses his human intelligence and his brain degraded to that of a wild, bloodthirsty animal, driven by instinct and visceral urge. He loses the ability to talk in this state, instead making grunts and growls, barking, crawling on all fours. He becomes more violent and impulsive in this state
——will eat anything he finds off the ground, doesn’t care how dirty it is. Free food is free food
——Collects trash and random trinkets from the human dimension, hoards them in piles
Frankie (normal version)
——is a high schooler
——very athletic, great at sports
——Plays soccer very well but he hates it
——very egocentric, obsessive narcissism
——Doesn’t feel love or compassion for people, only cares about himself
——very talented but very unmotivated, gave up on life since the day he was born
——he’s a creep, a weirdo, what the hell is he doing here, he don’t belong here
——Is a good friend, despite his personal shortcomings
——doesn’t really like his friends
——doesn’t really like anyone at all to be honest
——he’s just some guy
——has a porn addiction, is into guro (yikes)
——is just not normal mentally, in any way
——just a rotten little fucker
I have more ocs but these are the ones specifically from the Purgatory universe. Might make a second post about the other silly guys

Name: Aqua Alias: Master Aqua, Anti-Aqua Species: Human Height: 5’7 Age: 20-32 (Verse dependent) Gender: Female Orientation: Demisexual Hometown: Land of Departure Occupation: Keyblade Master
Physical appearance:
Aqua has blue eyes, and her hair is blue and relatively short. She wears a black and blue, high-collared halter top, two pink, intersecting belts over her chest, and black shorts. She wears a silver badge and on Aqua's arms are white bell-sleeves and tan, fingerless gloves. She also wears a small, segmented piece of armor on each of her upper arms. She wears what appear to be black stockings or socks on her legs which reach to about halfway up her thighs, leaving a small area of bare skin on her upper thighs.
Aqua also bears two strips of blue cloth that drape over either side of her hips, along with a smaller, white strip of cloth tied around her waist, draped in the same manner. Finally, she wears pointed, armored, silver boots with a sharp "hook" on the outer side of each.
By touching the piece of armor hanging on her arm, Aqua will become full clad in her Keyblade Armor.
Her helmet bears two prongs on either side, with her silver ones wrapping around the sides and angling diagonally downwards. Her cape is that of a dusty-rose color.
Personality:
Aqua has an intense devotion to her friends, ranging from making good luck charms for them to sacrificing herself. She holds a strong sense of justice and desire to do what is right. Her judgments between what is right and wrong are never misplaced, she is a mix of serious, kind, strong willed, intelligent, and responsible, as she is generally known to be the reliable one of any group. She is someone who worries over her friends, but is also easily embarrassed. She tends to hide the latter well, but generally modest on all fronts.
She is always worrying about Terra and Ventus, who are two of her closest friends. She has been shown to be blushing and embarrassed, going so far as to shaking her head and arms in an attempt to compose herself. She seems rather modest at most times, although can be very blunt when she finds herself reacting to things.
Story:
Aqua is one of Eraqus's pupils, who trained towards her dream of becoming a Keyblade master.
One day, a man named Master Xehanort arrived and gave Eraqus a new pupil, Ventus. Terra and Aqua started to question him but this ends up troubling him and he passes out. Eraqus explained that it was because Ventus has lost his memories, so Aqua takes on to caring for him. While countless days pass, one day Ventus woke up in front of Aqua. The next day, Aqua takes the Mark of Mastery exam with Terra and became a Keyblade Master, with Terra failing due to not being able to keep control of his Darkness. After Terra and Ventus leave the Land of Departure, Aqua left last due to a conversation with Master Eraqus telling her to bring Ventus back, he also asked her to keep a close eye on Terra and bring him back immediately due to his Darkness.
Aqua, Ven, and Terra came across many Disney characters along the way and fight of hordes of Unversed. Aqua later ended up at Radiant Garden with Mickey Mouse and met Kairi, who touched Aqua's Keyblade in fright, unintentionally performing a Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony. They protected her from the Unversed and in return, Kairi gave Aqua flowers which turn into the Destiny's Embrace Keyblade. Aqua placed a protective charm on Kairi to aid her in the future, believing the meeting was not a coincidence.
Aqua later encountered an unconscious Mickey drifting in space and took him to the Mysterious Tower, where she heard of Eraqus's death from Yen Sid and heads to the Keyblade Graveyard to meet up with Terra and Ven. They were confronted by Master Xehanort and his apprentice, Vanitas and a great battle ensued. Eventually, she was knocked out by Vanitas and was later woken up Mickey in time to find Ventus above on the cliff, but under Vanitas's influence and he wielding the χ-blade.
In a desperate maneuver, Aqua destroyed the χ-blade and lost consciousness. Ending up at Yen Sid's Tower with Ventus, she discovered he had lost his heart in the battle. Taking Ven back to the Land of Departure, Aqua placed his unconscious body in a throne and with Eraqus's Keyblade, transforms the world into Castle Oblivion to keep him safe before tracking down a possessed Terra in Radiant Garden.
Unable to bring Terra back to his senses, Aqua defeated Xehanort who subsequently stabbed himself in the chest with his own Keyblade in an attempt to lock Terra out. As Terra-Xehanort fell through a portal into the Realm of Darkness, Aqua dove in after him, realizing that she would be unable to save them both.
Instead, Aqua sacrificed her armor and Keyblade to save Terranort, and sent him back into the Realm of Light while she remains behind. This action, however, unintentionally doomed the worlds to twelve years of suffering and destruction by the Heartless at the hands of Ansem, Xemnas, and Maleficent.
Stuck in the Realm of Darkness, Aqua continues on traversing the realm to find a way out. She ended up at the Dark Meridian, where she meets Ansem the Wise, who was cast into the Realm when his machine exploded. He reveals that in the Realm of Light, it has been almost twelve years, and he explains the events that have occurred in Aqua's absence, including the actions of Sora.
Ansem the Wise asked Aqua what she will be doing next and she responded that she would stay and wait for someone to come find her. However, their conversation was interrupted by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, arriving to get information out of Ansem the Wise. Aqua stood up against Xehanort's Heartless despite no longer possessing her Keyblade, and was subdued by a blast of darkness and thrown into the Dark Margin's waters. As Aqua fell, she became corrupted by the darkness, turning into Anti-Aqua.
As Anti-Aqua, she believed that she had been forgotten about by Mickey and decided to take her grief and despair out on him when he arrived for her. Upon her defeat, the darkness that had corrupted Aqua escaped her, restoring her to herself, but she fell into a pool of darkness and began to sink into the Dark Margin's waters. A light appeared from the surface along with a cry from Sora, saving her and took her back to the Destiny Islands in the realm of light.
Aqua showed the way back to Castle Oblivion, where she turned it back into The Land of Departure so that they can find Ventus. Upon finding him, Aqua attempted to awaken Ventus, but was unable to. Vanitas appeared and knocked out Aqua before he aimed a fatal blow. In the nick of time, Sora awoke Ventus' heart to save his friend at the last moment, and Vanitas left, giving them a chance to regroup at Yen Sid’s study to prepare for the final battle.
In the aftermath, Aqua reunited with Sora, Riku and Mickey just as Master Xehanort has forged the Χ-blade and opened Kingdom Hearts. With the help of everyone else, she sealed Xehanort in another world along with Sora so that he can defeat him. Aqua stayed behind with everyone else to ensure everything is right until the end of the fight, where she follows him. Master Eraqus appeared from Terra's heart to confront Xehanort, but he apologizes to her for the burden he placed upon her. Accepting, Aqua assisted Sora in sealing Kingdom Hearts.
In the year after Sora’s disappearance, she, Terra, and Ventus took off to search the worlds for any sign of him to bring him back. Searching world after world and eliminating any heartless she finds, Aqua has a purpose to stay with her friends and keep them safe, taking a leadership role among her small group.
Abilities Spells: • Fire • Ice • Thunder • Reflect • Augmented Jumping • Reprisal • Magnet
Command Styles: • SpellWeaver: Utilizes the power of light to hover her Keyblade in midair, swiftly attacking enemies while enhancing her magic capabilities as well. • GhostDrive: Allows her to attack enemies at high speeds while using after-image illusions and tricky movements to her advantage.
Shotlocks • Prism Rain: Light in seven colors bursts from the Keyblade and chases after enemies. • Bubble Blaster: A giant bubble surrounds Aqua and releases smaller bubbles that chase after enemies. • Lightbloom: Aqua's strongest Shotlock. She twirls on the spot while shooting many orbs of white light. As it progresses, her spinning becomes more and more elaborate until she is spinning with one of her legs behind her head.
Keyblades: • Rainfell • Stormfall • Master Keeper • Brightcrest

Don’t worry you got bbs down, I’m currently playing through it. Also if you don’t mind I want to share the other half of parallels that made the situation very different to the one Eraqus thought would occur again. Namely the roles each of them had. I’m going to talk about the parallel’s not
Terra - He is totally a parallel to Baldr but is in the same role as Hoder in the sibling relationship/dynamic. He is the oldest and literally becomes the Guardian, in all flashbacks of Hoder’s death she is trying to protect Baldr and Terra is very protective of both Aqua and Ventus. He literally fights Eraqus to do that, he also has that serious vibe that Hoder has, taking both of their responsibilities very seriously and going against what their friends say to do what they think is right. The major difference with both siblings is his relationship with the darkness, unlike Baldr, Terra did control his darkness, darkness didn’t overtake him. Unless you count Xehanort at the end there.
Aqua - She is a parallel Hoder, but in her relationship with Terra she is Baldr. Following Terra into world trying to make sure he’s okay and out of trouble. Asking for reassurance from Terra even when he’s not there. And her main similarity to Hoder, the willingness to destroy darkness (The Treimaine’s) is stopped and she actually listens, and questions her beliefs and how light is meant to fight the darkness. In the same world we have a Baldr parallel though because Aqua like Baldr and Xehanort can sense the darkness within people. She is also seen to be very affected by others as Baldr could. And eventually she falls into darkness but because she has the support that she needs from Mickey and her friends she can fight back.
So in my opinion Terra is like Baldr if he was in Hoder’s role as the older protective sibling with a strong sense of justice who is impulsive when it comes to battle and Aqua is Hoder in Baldr’s role of being the younger worried sibling with the ability to sense what’s in the hearts of others who is not the best at communicating their feelings and needs.
(Major KHDR spoilers. Also it’s been a while since I played BBS so I apologize if I get any details wrong, feel free to correct me if so.)
Dark Road gave us so much more to chew on when considering Eraqus’ thought process at the beginning of BBS.
First off, to get the obvious out of the way, Master Xehanort going missing and Eraqus sending his students on a mission to find him = the upperclassmen going missing and Master Odin sending his students on a mission to find them. So Eraqus probably noticed History Repeating Itself and kept that in mind when he decided that the only option was to send Terra and Aqua out into the world. How so? Here are my thoughts on that:
Terra as a parallel to Baldr: Well…Eraqus probably felt like he didn’t have much of a choice. Eraqus had to stay behind to defend the Land of Departure or whatever, he wasn’t going to send Ven for obvious reasons, and ONLY sending Aqua would have been ill-advised, both because a situation that threatened to be very dire would require more than a single keyblade wielder handling it AND because Eraqus needed to avoid making Terra feel left out/distrusted lest his darkness become even more agitated and unruly. So he gave Terra the same mission as Aqua and framed it as a test for Terra to prove himself, but obviously he was very concerned because
Aqua as a parallel to Hoder: While it’s true that Hoder’s death was what caused Baldr’s darkness to spiral out of control in the first place, presumably Hoder’s light when she WAS alive was enough to keep Baldr in check. So Eraqus instructing Aqua to watch over Terra/interfere when she has to might have been done under the assumption that Aqua’s influence would be enough to keep Terra’s light burning strong. And yeah the possibility of something bad happening to Aqua to send Terra over the edge is there, but she WAS granted the title of Keyblade Master right before all of this, so I imagine Eraqus was confident that she’d have the skillset required to avoid harm. Of course Aqua’s meddling just ends up causing more problems, but Eraqus didn’t anticipate that at the time. Light begets shadow and all that.
Ven as a parallel to the Lower Classmen: The lower classmen were NOT equipped to deal with all the things they dealt with in DR, and I’m sure even Eraqus agrees that Master Odin shouldn’t have sent them out into the world so early. Like, that’s how Hermod, Urd, and Bragi died, basically. So of course Eraqus would want Ven, the youngest and most inexperienced of his students, to stay behind. Ven might feel like he’s being unfairly sheltered despite being ready to take on the world, but all Eraqus can see is a tragic accident waiting to happen. So when Ven leaves anyway, spurred by his fear of losing Terra…it would naturally become imperative to Eraqus that Aqua brings him back at once.
(Not to say that I necessarily AGREE with his approach to the situation here, just pointing out that, in HIS mind, he thought he was making the best choices he could given the circumstances and his past experiences in DR.)

prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance
or, mickey creates actual characters out of the four stalwart generals from jttw
on flower fruit mountain, the stalwart generals are known as the "flower fruit great four," or the 花果四大/huāguǒsìdà. they are highly respected and second only to the monkey king himself.
🌾 marshal ma, of the plains
ma is a mandrill with fur like vibrant carnelian stone and eyes like pale silica. his weapons of choice are dual dao, though most of the time he single-wields. ma is the second oldest of the huaguosida, as well as their leader.
he is the strict, stern, no-nonsense type who has nearly no sense of humor, and isn't easy to get along with. the fact of the matter is that his social skills are terrible, but it doesn't matter much to him as long as the job is done. he has a surprisingly petty side and takes pleasure in little revenges.
despite not showing it, ma is fiercely protective and ready to protect he and his own. he's fond of children and cute, small things, though they're all scared of him. he only seeks high ground when necessary.
he/him
a big fan of sesame
quite acrobatic
chews on wheat to curb his smoking habit
typically refuses himself comfort
justice. south. fire. summer.
🌊 marshal liu, of the rivers
liu is a tibetan macaque with dark brown fur and eyes like sulfur. their choice of weapon is a yanyuedao, and they are skilled in a variety of other polearms as well. liu is the oldest of the huaguosida.
they are the quiet, calm sort who thinks before they act (and before the others act), and are said to have a soothing presence, though outsiders may find them unnerving to be around because of their slender, imposing stature. they are careful with their words and prefer not to waste them, organized and efficient with them as they are with everything else.
while liu is as protective as ma (and far more subversive in how they act upon it), their loyalty is second to none, and there is nothing they despise more than a traitor. liu is considered quite pretty. don't let it fool you when it comes to combat.
they/them
loves pomegranates and guava
a stunning cook
a good swimmer
fond of rainy weather
unlike ma, refuses to curb their smoking habit
prudence. north. water. winter.
🏔 general beng, of the mountains
beng is an orangutang with silver fur and dark green eyes. his choice of weapon is... his fists. he is extremely adept in hand-to-hand combat and prefers it to melee weapon-based combat. beng is the youngest of the huaguosida.
he is strong, large, and protective, and willing and able to shield others with his broad body. most others are intimidated by his resting bitch face, but beng is very friendly in reality and is the most charismatic of the huaguosida. children adore him, unlike ma.
in spite of his friendliness, beng is unafraid to get his hands dirty and will always volunteer for the jobs no one else wants to do. while protective of others, he somewhat tends to disregard himself because of his size and durability.
he/him
fast in spite of his build and looks
prefers to keep busy
not quick to anger
loves to eat, can be found snacking in his free time
temperance. west. earth. autumn.
🌿 general ba, of the branches and vines
ba is a white-cheeked gibbon with fur like the night sky (excluding their white cheeks) and silver eyes. his preferred weapon is a bow—any kind will suit him. he also keeps a dangong/slingshot/pellet bow on him at all times. their accuracy is the best in the land, and they're able to strike any target at up to 1.5 kilometers with perfect accuracy. ba is the second-youngest of the huaguosida, and also the smallest.
she is the oddball of the bunch and the most reclusive, preferring to keep to the treetops and to herself. she is mute and communicates exclusively in sign language and messages tied to arrows shot across the island, or balled up messages slung in the same manner.
ba is practically impossible to catch and will only show themselves if their presence is demanded by one of the other sida or the monkey king himself. when it comes to combat, they are ruthless and unforgiving, and prefers immediate action overall—act first, questions later. they refuse to baby anyone or be easy on them and prefers the same treatment (except from liu).
they/she/he/it
alcohol heavyweight champ
loves limes, human sweets
quite elegant
doesn't like being on the ground, or being wet
naps frequently
fortitude. east. wind. spring.
these are the four stalwart generals of flower fruit mountain, and sun wukong's strongest, most skilled soldiers.
#lego monkie kid#four stalwart generals#i don't even know what else to tag this with lol#huaguosida#feel free to ask about them! i think i'm bowing out for the night

A few about the Great Seven interacting with Twisted Wonderland characters VIA Yuu. 👀 I only have one word summary; Chaos.
Who would meet the Great Seven first? Obviously the first years (along with Ortho and Grim). They’re Yuu’s best friends after all.
Actually, it was Friday, the last day of the week. And coincidentally, that night would be a special night at the House of Mouse. Ariel and her sisters would be performing that night.
Mickey told Yuu that that they could invite anyone to watch the performance. So Yuu went to get special permission to take their friends along with them.
After kidnapping Ortho After Yuu gathers everyone, they explain that they’re going out to see a special performance at their workplace.
Keep in mind that no one knows exactly what Yuu’s new job was except Grim and Crowley. So naturally everyone was in on it and curious. (Only Grim knows about Yuu meeting the Great Seven though)
Ace: So where do you work at?
Yuu: I work at a club.
Epel: ...As in a strip club or a book club?
Yuu: Wtf Epel? It’s like a club but no alcohol. It’s technically a restaurant but they have live shows and put on a lot of performances so-
Deuce: Oh! That’s cool, we get to see it together!
Yuu: Actually I’m not going to be with you guys. I’m on duty that day so I’ll be waiting tables. But I’ll join during break.
Ace: Really? Bummer.
Ortho: Aw, I wanted to hang out with you too! But it will be fun nonetheless. :D
Yuu tells them to wait downstairs as they go upstairs to get everything ready.
They are low-key nervous, because the House of Mouse isn’t...exactly normal by Twisted Wonderland standards.
Meanwhile, Grim was telling the first years about Yuu’s experiences there.
Grim: You know, the House of Mouse is really popular, I’ve heard about a lot of customers Yuu has met.
Deuce: This job must have been hard...I’m glad Yuu got it though!
Grim: Yeah, they pay them 5,000 madol! Isn’t that great?!
Sebek: 5,000 madol?! That’s a lot more than being a waiter.
Ace: In a week? I mean having a salary of 5,000 is pretty impressive.
Grim: Hehe, it’s actually 5,000 a day.
First Years: WHAT?!
Jack: To be able to pay that much...the owner must be wealthy.
Epel: Yuu lucked out!
When Yuu comes down, the first years are asking a billion questions.
How did you find a job with such a high pay??? Is the work good?? Is your boss nice to you?? Explain everything-
Yuu assured them that their job is just waiting a bunch of tables, and that they’re payed well because the place is very popular.
Anyways, Yuu tells them that they’re going now and leads them upstairs.
“Shouldn’t we be going to the hall of mirrors-?” “It won’t work.”
The group kind of loses their mind as Yuu casually pushes Ace into their mirror, Grim follows behind.
“Come on, or do I have to push you through the mirror like I did with Ace?”
Safe to say is that they go through the mirror and are greeted with a very lavish dressing room.
“Wait woah this isn’t Mickey’s dressing room.”
Yuu finds a note and read it out loud. Apparently Mickey moved the mirror to a new room so they could have privacy. Anything in the room is for their use.
“I’m going to cry. He’s so nICE I DON’T DESERVE THIS-“
Yuu is pretty happy with this arrangement, actually. They also begin to explain the club’s shtick to their friends.
“So this is basically a club for entertainment with live shows and also cartoons on the screen. Oh, and sometimes a cat named Pete tries to sabotage the show so he can kick everyone out and make this his club.” “Isn’t that illegal-“ “Not if there’s no police.”
So anyways Yuu leads them outside and they run into Goofy.
Sebek: Is that-?
Yuu: Hi Goofy, I’m bringing my friends to a table for the show-
Goofy: Yuu! There you are! You’re needed at table 14.
Yuu: What? But my shift hasn’t started-
Goofy: Reservations from Hades himself.
Yuu: Oh shit, ok yeah I’ll be there as soon as possible-
Ortho: Hades? As in the God of the Underworld?
Yuu: Yes, I’ll explain later, more importantly let’s go find you a table.
Ace: I think not telling us you actually met one of the GREAT SEVEN!
Yuu: I did tell you; and you didn’t believe me.
Everyone is vibrating in nervousness and excitement. Especially Ortho. I mean, this is the GREAT SEVEN we’re talking about!
Yuu decides to introduce them to Hades. But surprise surprise, it’s all of the Great Seven!
Yuu’s first year friends are going to pass out from shock. Oof.
With some inquiry, Yuu explains to the Great Seven that the friends they brought were from Twisted Wonderland.
Let’s just say that the First Years got invited to sit at their table. (Sebek is quaking at the idea of sitting with the Witch of Thorns)
So while Yuu leaves to start work (not after taking all of their orders first, of course), the Great Seven begin asking the first years + Grim questions.
The first years are expectantly tense, but they loosen up.
Ursula and Jafar are a little disappointed that no one from their dorm is present, but they seem to easily forget that after Yuu tells them that they know people from their respective dorms anyways.
Yuu also gives them a little more information they found about their respective dorms, so that they don’t feel...left out? (Satisfied is a better word for it)
Ursula pets Grim and Jafar feeds him crackers. Grim does not complain, he’s fine. He becomes more compliant as his tuna arrives.
And some of the other’s thoughts? Well...
The Queen of Hearts almost blew up in anger at Ace and Deuce. They are idiots that do nOT KNOW THE PROPER WAY TO SPEAK TO THEIR SUPERIORS AND THEY HAVE BROKEN AT LEAST 359 RULES ALREADY-
But somehow, the Queen of Hearts warms up to the idiotic duo. She sees them as...annoying children she has to babysit but they’re also really adorable that she can’t stay mad at them forever. Plus, Deuce is trying and Ace has these wonderful card tricks that would make her Jester cry.
So at first, she does not approve, but as the night progresses she does. 8/10 would meet the ADeuce combo again.
Scar and Jack...hm. Well, I don’t think they’d get along of Scar’s sense of morality and justice of the past was brought up. However, the villains all agreed to not bring up their villainous past because they didn’t want to scare away Yuu/make them wary and distrustful of them. Same goes for the first years.
Anyways, Scar is impressed at how buff Jack is. He isn’t surprised though - he expected residents of his dorm to be powerful. Scar lays down some well deserved praise and Jack eats it up with a tail wag. Jack also talks about his dorm and what the dorm represents. Scar’s ego rises 100x and Scar becomes somewhat...egotistical. Well, maybe not like in a “I’m shoving my ego in your face” type of ego but in a “This pleases me and I will treat you kinder” ego.
Basically, Scar opens up a little more to Jack as the night progresses. Like a mentor/student bond.
The Evil Queen and Epel...well, the Evil Queen was quite picky with how Epel was acting. Yes, he had the proper posture but really, he was using the wrong forks to eat that particular kind of food. She expected better from someone who came from her dorm. So she ended up chastising him and scolding him for being “improper”. Like Vil.
She was shocked to say when Epel accidentally snapped back at her, before returning to his more “princely” persona. Ah, so the child had more than meets the eye. She tried a different approach, as in trying to ease Epel into talking to her. Certainly, Epel was much more headstrong and willful than that naive Snow White.
So, the Evil Queen and Epel have a rocky start, but by the end of the show.
Hades and Ortho...well, that’s a combo you never see everyday. But I think Hades would basically adopt Ortho. As in suddenly he gets father vibes from the kid. He’s also particularly interested in his own dorm, and asks Ortho about it. Ortho’s pretty chatty with Hades, and is happy to tell Hades about his dorm! He also asks a few questions himself; which Hades happily obliged to.
...and then it turns into Ortho talking about Idia and how wonderful he is. And Hades is like, “damn, this kid has a wonderful big brother. How come my younger siblings act like shit to me-“
So Hades silently swore to the River of Styx to keep this child safe, and Ortho had a fun time interacting with Hades!
Sebek and Maleficent...well, it could have been worse.
Poor Sebek was tense and tight lipped for most of the night. He really wanted to make a good impression on Malleus’ grandmother. (I don’t think Sebek has met Maleficent yet so-)
Maleficent was patient, however. She knew Fae kind were raised to think of Maleficent as a high authority figure that should be treated with upmost respect. Unlike the other kingdoms; the Valley of Thorns praised Maleficent like a goddess. She didn’t blame Sebek for acting like he was.
So she started with baby steps. Talking about how wonderful it was to meet her grandson’s bodyguard, how Malleus must have grown to be a strong magician, how she wished she had stayed to know more about her grandson.
Actually, the breaking point between the tense atmosphere between the two was Malleus. Sebek opens up a little more as he continues to talk to Maleficent.
At the end of the night, they’ve only talked about Malleus, but Maleficent was content with that. After all, keeping up with what her grandson was doing was more than enough.
By the end of the night, the First Years enjoyed the special performance and their time with the Great Seven. Things went well especially when Yuu came to join during their break.
So when it was time to go, everyone had happily said their goodbyes as they were ready to return.
“Oh, before I forget...Yuu, I have almost completed the portals for the others so do expect one of us to pop in soon.” “Oh, ok!” “...THEY MIGHT VISIT US?!”
Everyone is low key excited to meet again though.
So, the first years go through the mirror and stay at Ramshackle, chatting away at their time at the House of Mouse.

Can I go all social worker for a second here? Can I write an essay? Okay maybe not an essay, my next semester starts tomorrow and I’m already tired. But a discussion board post? On the ACE study (which you need to look up if you don’t know about it, it’s so interesting), strengths perspective, attachment theory and family development? Yeah? I’m so sorry, I know for a fact that this interests literally no one but me. But here it is, my self indulgent discussion board post on the power of positive relationship examples and early attachment/unconditional positive regard.
The fact that Franny, Liam and Fred get to watch Ian and Mickey learn how to be married and grow together as a couple is both incredibly sweet and it will play a major role in their emotional development. It’s beneficial to the whole family- none of the Gallaghers really know what a mature long term relationship looks like.
But those kids, especially the younger ones, get to grow and develop in a completely different context than the rest of their family. Sure, money’s still tight and they live in the same house. Yes, they’ve all experienced some significant Adverse Childhood Experiences. Exposure to drug/alcohol abuse, household members in the criminal justice system, parental death, divorce/separation. You name it, all the Gallaghers have experienced it.
But do you know why Liam’s already creating a completely new path for himself? And why I’m certain that Franny and Fred have the ability to do the same? Early secure attachment. They actually had a parental figure that they could rely on for basic needs and comfort.
While the older kids had Fiona, there’s really only so much a child can do, and I highly doubt any of them had any secure attachment in infancy/early childhood. That’s a risk factor in and of itself. That’s reason to believe that none of them fully emotionally developed in childhood. They were in survival mode, relying on Fiona when she could be there, and consistently being let down by Frank and Monica.
While Liam, Franny and Fred all had varying levels of exposure to Frank, none of them ever had to rely on them. By the time Liam was born, the older kids were able to work together to take care of him. For the most part, if Liam had a need, it was met. It wasn’t perfect, but it was met. He learned that people will keep you safe and that the world is generally friendly. He never had to actually rely on Frank for much of anything, he was more like a deadbeat, weird uncle who sometimes showed up to take him on wacky adventures. Then he’d come home, Fiona would have made dinner, Lip would help him with homework, and he’d be loved and protected by his siblings. It’s similar for Franny and Fred- I’d even go as far as to bet that they developed relatively secure attachments with Debbie and Lip/Tami respectively. Debbie and Lip learned how to care for others by modeling after Fiona and because they had been cared for by Fiona in their own childhood.
So developmentally, the three of them have already experienced some protective factors. But the whole family really lacks exposure to healthy adult relationships. We see it time and time again throughout the show. Fiona, Lip and Debbie all struggle tremendously with relationships. Lip and Tami are trying, but there’s a long way to go with them. Say what you like about season 11, but I think it was a realistic portrayal of Ian and Mickey learning what marriage means to them. How would they know? They have no prior experience, no positive examples. Not only are they learning what marriage means to them, but they’re learning what marriage looks like in general. And they’re growing! Together! Learning about compromises and communication and how to be on the same side. It’s huge! I could write a whole essay just on this, on their growth as individuals and together.
But I can’t emphasize the importance of the kids observing this. Not only do they have improved emotional development but they get to model future relationships after Mickey and Ian’s. Even though they’re learning themselves, they get to see long term love and see two people truly have each other’s backs. They’re partners, they have been for years. The kids get to watch them resolve conflict without the threat of separation- they’re on the same team.
And not only does this increase the kids’ likelihood of developing these strong relationships in the future, but it also speaks to the healing power of relationships, romantic or platonic. Mickey and Ian both have experienced tremendous amounts of trauma, and I will argue with anyone who says that their relationship hasn’t been mutually healing.
And I know these are fictional characters but I really do think that Shameless’ portrayal of generational trauma and abuse is incredible. There’s so much emphasis on strengths perspective and resilience and I love that it all fits. It makes sense- for both family and individual development.
I’m so sorry that’s been my Ted talk.

WandaVision: When you can’t let go of that robo-lovin.
So, I just finished watching "WandaVision", and I must say, right off the bat
- I LOVED IT!
Disney Plus is finally paying off. I'm in the group of peeps who got DP, not for the mouse, but for the ones whom the mouse is in bed with, and most recently on Mickey's playtime Marvel List - Wanda Maximoff and her robo-boy toy VISION... or is that “THE Vision”? - that seems kinda ostentatious, but whatever.
When I first heard that Wanda was getting a series, I said "Who cares?" I don't care bout no Wanda! What has she been other than a weird pest?
Let's review:
She tried to kill the Avengers, she accidentally injures and kills innocent people, she was getting in the way, so Tony Stark had to get his CPU (Vision) to babysit her, she falls in love with the CPU - can we talk about how strange this is? I didn't say wrong, just different, cuz honestly, we may be headed there soon. That movie "Her" might be a reality with how tech is going these days.
But, imagine I come to your home and fall in love with your laptop (which messes everything up for you with all your devices and your social media), THEN (as Wanda did with Vision), I run off on some romantic journey with all of your devices. Imagine how Tony would have felt, if he was still with us.
She had one job when it came to Thanos, and it ended up not mattering.
Then, went full rage on the wrong Thanos.
Idk if that’s a look (Thanos) pain, release, of he’s listening to his jam. Kinda looks like he’s saying “JESUS”. But, Wanda is pissed.
Wanda: "You took everything from me!"
Thanos: "Lady, I don't even know you!"
I didn't care about Wanda. But, damn, Marvel is so good that in one episode they made me care; one trailer, really.
If you had not seen the trailer for this series, you might be confused by the first episode.
You might even ask yourself - "What the bleep is this nonsense?!" We want heroes vs villains. We want super-powered explosions. We want capes, ridiculously tight clothes, bulky armor, and anything else that makes no sense to fight in.
You're giving me "Bewitched"?
I DID see the trailer, so I knew going in that it would be a slow burn with some nostalgia, some quirks, and some eeriness; right up my alley.
The change in Tv decade styles btw *chef kiss*
I figured that they'd be trapped in some mysterious, magical world - which they are...
Unless you're super geeky with the funny books, there's no way you'll see what's coming in this mystery.
And it IS a mystery, not only to the audience, but for the characters involved in this show. Don't nobody know what the hell is going on.
But, LaWanda and Vishawn
(sorry, I just wanted to use this pic - Ha! Y'all are crazy.)had help figuring things out:
Rambo
Yeah, it's actually Monica Rambeau,
but... admit it, some of you kept thinking about Rambo too, right?? No offense to this actress, but I'd rather see old man Sly play Rambo, and HIM be in this mysterious WandaVision town. Let's get Disney a lil bloody. Wishful thinking, I suppose.
Marvel WILL BE venturing into multiple universes soon, so perhaps Rambo finds his way to team up with The Punisher? Huh?? YEAH!
But, no... Rambeau (meh No personality, but whatever).
Randall Park -
He's that person we all know who has made us laugh so much in life, that they don't even need to say anything anymore; you look at them and laugh. I love this dude!
Kat Dennings -
I remember liking her more in the Thor movies. I found her annoying, this time around. She joins the mystery to figure tech stuff out, and she's a doctor or something (don't you forget it!). She also asks the team she just meets to get her some coffee, and acts like they're disrespecting HER, by their lack of response. I know she's a doctor and all, but damn! Imagine some electrician comes to your place to serve YOU, they're condescending to you, and then they ask you for some coffee. Get the hell outta here!
Oh, and there's a dude named “Director Dick”. That's my name for him, but the name fits.
The people in this town are acting out as if they've been scripted for some show. And all of these characters, AND US, get to figure it out together - through antics from different times in Tv culture.
Times sure were different back in the day:
No social justice issues implanted or cursing or sex or drugs... now, I'm not saying it was a better time, just a different one :) A time when dad jokes ruled! Simple times! Ignorance was bliss. But, it kinda wasn't - not really.
It's like having an animal die on your property somewhere, and it starts to stink. You COULD find the truth of the stench... or light candles everywhere. Some really strong candles - maybe some of those Gwyneth Paltrow candles.
Though the stench might get covered up, the problem is still there. At some point, your kids could find the dead rotting animal... maybe start playing with it... you get the point.
In this show, the townspeople's minds have been taken over by someone or something, and it's torturous for them. So... bliss on the surface, but... not so much, going deeper. I tell you all of this, plus great production in each epi, a good slow-burn mystery, and fun with comic characters in a way we haven't seen before on screen, and hell yeah - Grade: A series.
Now... spoilers.
You might want to leave now.
People, Wanda is the villain here. I'm not sure if that's the message the writers are trying to convey or not, but I don't care; she is the clear villain here.
Here’s Wanda reading some Hell book, conjuring some dark spirits - nbd.
We are rooting for her throughout this show; even after we find out that she has been (even if not maliciously) controlling every one, we still root for her.
I'm not saying that's bad, but we can't forget about what she has done! Remember, I said that the mind control was torturous for the townspeople.
There's a very emotional moment at the end of this series between Wanda and Vision, and between them and their kids (yeah, they have kids... that's a whole other thing). This moment is well done and touching. There's even a bad ass fight between Wanda and the "true... villain"? - of this story. I'll get to her in a sec (There’s a badass Vision fight scene as well).
I loved all of that! But, at the end of the day...
I know Wanda is grieving and all, we all grieve, but we all don't, in our grief, take a whole town hostage, torture the people, all while playing house with our family. That's kinda sick, no??
Are we doing a girl-power thing? or a “witches are people too” thing? or “but she’s doing it all for her family” thing (yeah, they’re not actually real, but whatever)? I don’t know.
I'm not sure that we know what a villain is anymore. It used to be clear - the guy with the beard was the bad guy, or the guy wearing the black outfit was the bad guy, or the people who aren't Americans are the bad guys :)
But, movies like "Joker" and "Deadpool" and Harley's joint have confused some.
Who else would be the villain? There's a character, the villain (i guess), a witch named Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn
Here she is saying “I’m the villain? Really? What about her?!!”
- she's excellent btw; def the highlight of this show; her and Paul Bettany's hair game.
But, let's compare:
Agatha:
betrays her coven back in the day, sure, but why you bringing up old shit?
She allows Wanda to play out this fantasy for a while, and even played along. She could have just killed her when she was ignorant; that's what I would have done. She eventually shows Wanda the truth (granted, she then wants Wanda's power, but hey, everything has a price. And for all we know, she would have used all of that power to... cure the worlds diseases or something... though prob not:). Annnd maybe she killed an imaginary puppy. Convo for another time: if you kill something that's not real, does it matter??
That's it!
She didn't (like Wanda): abduct a town, torture its people, bring Vision back from the dead (kinda), endanger soldiers who were just doing their jobs, create weird fantasies (And did she have sexy time with previously dead, fake Vision? This thing gets even weirder if she did. But, let's not go down that path.) Oh, and she magically punted a black woman (Rambo) the length of a football field just for her asking Wanda some questions.
When the townspeople finally regain their minds (Lord knows how long it's been), they look at her with disdain, and I don't blame them. And what does Wanda do?? - shrug, put on a hoodie, and fly off - to break into somebody's home and read some devil book.
Where’s cancel culture in this universe?
I know she made us feel, but I ask again, who's the villain here?
Still Grade A stuff for me (again, I loved this!), but c'mon, people.
We get a glimpse of Captain Marvel 2 as well. My fingers are crossed. I actually liked the first movie. But, many others did not, and one of the reasons - Captain Marvel doesn't have much of a personality, and another - she's too powerful (no risk).
So, to answer the critics, we have Monica Rambeau - another ridiculously super-powered hero, with no personality. So, two unrelatable characters flying around in space, as Sam L Jackson tries not to curse. But, if Marvel can make me care about evil ass Wanda, I'll still hold out hope for Capt Marvel 2.

Alright, so... this is the utterly self-indulgent essay. XD
For any non-Italian readers: remember the introductory note on my translation of Goofy and The Perfect New Year’s Eve Handbook? About Italian Goofy (Pippo) having a huuuuuuuuuge family? Well, everyone in this family is, ofc, either just as quirky or nearly as quriky as Goofy himself... which makes for a lot of interesting personalities. Like Goofy's cousin, Indiana Pipps. Or Arizona Goof, in English. Presumably to make the joke at least a little bit subtler.
... yes, "the joke" is that he's literally an Indiana Jones parody. Who happens to be related to Goofy and look almost exactly (or exactly, depending on the story) like him. He's an "adventure archaeologist" who spends most of his time scouring South American jungles for lost pre-Colombian temples full of traps and treasure, travelling through scorching deserts to find legendary Egyptian ruins, and stumbling into fantarchaeology/Ancient Aliens/magical/mystical relics. He's brave, smart, passionate, confident to the point of being actually a bit arrogant, kind of reckless and hotheaded, a little rough, rather snarky, and has a strong sense of justice... and a bunch of strange habits and quirks. Like his penchant from entering buildings from the window rather than from the door (because that would be too easy), his preference for sleeping bags over beds and tents over houses (though he does have a house just out of Mouseton... in a dangerous swamp complete with crocodiles), his dislike and distrust for city life in general, and his love for a particular brand of strong-flavored liquorice candies called "Negritas" that almost everyone else finds adsolutely disgusting. Through the years, he's fallen in love with a bunch of female characters (starting with Clarabelle Cow, or so the internet tells me... Goof guys trying to steal her away from Horace must be a bizarre family tradition) and he's had a bunch of female characters fall in love with him, as you can expect considering he's the Dr. Jones of the Mouseverse and everything. But none of these crushes has ever really gone anywhere... whether because of a bout of obliviousness preventing him from realizing his temporary sidekick had been head over heels for him the whole time (sorry, Martina), a misguided attempt to present as a more traditional academic for a nerdy professor who unexpectedly turned out to be really into the adventurer type, or fairy law forbidding him to marry his French fairy sweetheart (yup, that happened).
Ironically, his most constant and long-lasting is with his nemesis, Dr. Kranz. (Nope, no name given.) (Yes, this is going to be an "enemies to lovers" kinda thing... except with, like, A Twist. So if you don't like that kind of dynamic or think people shouldn’t like messed-up ships or anything like that, you'd probably better stop reading.)
Kranz and Indiana appeared together in Indiana's first story, Mickey and Goofy in: Raiders of the Lost Temple by Bruno Sarda, and have been chasing each other for one reason or another ever since. Kranz is an adventure archaeologist, too, but despite being (almost) as skilled and succesful at his job as Indiana, he spends an awful lot of time following him around and trying to steal his discoveries... most often by putting on some disguise, stalking him from a distance, and popping out of nowhere with a gun and a mocking smirk as soon as Indiana finds the hidden lost idol/treasure/artifact/city.
Despite some weird occasional foray into the world of attempted world domination, Kranz is (mostly) into the whole villain business for the money and the fame. The money because he loves luxury (especially fast cars and five-star hotels) and sells a good chunk of what he finds or steals to unscrupulous clients or outright villainous organizations to afford to live the good life, and the fame because he has a big ego and (somehow, still) a reputation as a respectable archaeologist that feeds into it... and he's always trying to overshadow Indiana, because he hates being always second best to him. Which is just as well, because Indiana hates his attempts to steal his own discoveries, his criminal activities, his utter lack of ethics, and his greed. Whenever they see each other without either of them ending up on the wrong end of a gun or tied up for the local authorities to find, they usually still end up at each other's throat anyway. Or at least, insulting and teasing each other the whole time.
Except... it wasn't always like that. Back in the day, Indiana and Kranz were actually students in the same college. And roommates (YES, "and they were roommates!"). And "inseparable" best friends who got along very well despite their differences and genuinely cared for each other. And after graduating, even adventuring partners, at least occasionally. Kranz already loved money and luxury, and Indiana had already started to develop his simpler yet more bizarre tastes, but they were good together.
There's actually a recent mini-series about their college years written by Bruno Sarda himself, Young Indiana. It's pretty much a shipper's delight, as it contains high amounts of fluff, overdramatic (and suspiciously coupley imho) friendship drama with a happy ending, hugs, kisses, straight love drama taking a backseat as the focus stays firmly on the friendship drama, and a certain amount of foreshadowing of (angsty) things to come. But their old friendship was already an established fact before that...
Like in the story Indiana Pipps and the Return of Doctor Kranz, where Indiana ends up telling Mickey the story of how they parted ways and became enemies. Which was apparently inspired by something that happened in the Martin Mystère comics, but I've never read them so I wouldn't know. Long story short, Indiana and Kranz where on an expedition together when they unexpectedly found an absurdly powerful ray gun left behind by Ancient Aliens. As it turned out, by that point Kranz had already been in contact with a shady organization that would have paid good money for something like that, so he proposed they should sell the gun to them and share the profits of the sale. Indiana immediately opposed the idea, of course, being all like, "wtf dude idk about YOU apparently but I have morals and also a sense of professional ethics"... so Kranz knocked him out, took the gun, wrote him a note about how you shouldn't slap good luck away, and fled to the other side of the world, where a man from the organization would await him. But when Indiana woke up, he immediately started trying to track him, eventually ruining the sale right before it could go through and throwing the gun into the sea, where it would never be found again. At that point, Kranz swore he'd have his revenge on him by basically costantly tailing him and ruining his life and career, never leaving him a moment of peace.
Which he's sometimes been pretty succesful at, considering there's been a whole story about Indiana being so stressed due to Kranz appearing out of the blue to ruin his day, it turns into some sort of bizarre mania where he believes everyone and anyone is secretly Kranz in disguise. However, the same story also has Kranz being so stressed due to Indiana constantly foiling his schemes that he goes on a cruise to just forget about him and relax for a while... and ends up jumping off the ship when he mistakenly believes Indiana might be on it, too. So, that's a two-way street, I guess.
So, basically... friends to enemies, genuine affection being ruined by greed and ambition and turning into resentment and spite and straight-up hatred, a degree of mutual obsession and general unhealthiness. But that's not really all there is to their relationship.
There's also stories where they're forced to collaborate to reach the same goal and have to behave more or less civilly, or even where they choose to do so willingly and end up actually still being a good team. There's stories where getting good results while working together makes them behave almost amicably, as much as they're able or willing to. Stories where they acknowledge their past together, if not their old friendship, and even the similarities between them. Stories where they find themselves with someone they both look down down or hate even more than each other, and find some common ground insulting and snarking at them in-between doing the same to each other. Where they grudgingly help each other out.
And then, there's Indiana Pipps e il soccorso obbligato. The story I blame for getting me into this ship in the frist place, when I could be here reading and writing Scroldie or Dimeshipping or Donsy or Mickey/Minnie or literally any other of my Disney comics ships that people other than me actually ship.
In Il soccorso obbligato, Kranz gets kidnapped by some shady guys while he's working on a revolutionary archaeological discovery, except he's not been kidnapped and he's not actually close to finding anything that awesome, and it's all just a convoluted trap to get back at Indiana for laughing at him one time because he's terrible. But Indiana doesn't know that, and so he and Mickey rush to the rescue and fly to a whole other continent to find him...
That story really has everything. From Kranz coming up with a ridiculous and ridiculously cruel plan because he might be used to Indiana insulting him and mocking him but sometimes his former friend laughing at him and acting all superior and better than him still hurts, to Indiana actually falling for it and trying to justify to himself why he does, telling himself that after so many years spent (fighting) together there's a bond between them and he owes it to Kranz... and admitting he’s worried about him. From Indiana still remembering little details about Kranz and their past together and looking almost fond as he talks about them, to Kranz being both petty and obsessed enough to leave a journal full of insults to Indiana for him to find as a clue and setting his password to a mocking phrase about him (and Indiana, who should expect some stuff like that or at least be used to it, still getting riled up and planning on giving Kranz an earful when he finds him). From Kranz assuming Indiana would only come save him if he threw an imaginary fantarchaeological discovery into the mix because then Indiana wouldn't be able to resist his "archaeological curiosity", to Indiana considering said discovery more of a secondary concern and actually regretting and feeling almost guilty for mocking Kranz the last time they saw each other before the supposed kidnapping... and recklessly, unthinkingly running over a thin ice bridge over a gaping chasm just to get to him, throwing all caution to the wind even as he tells himself he doesn't even know why he's doing it. And the way they still KNOW each other despite everything that happened, maybe even because of everything that happened! The angst! The complicated, unspoken, repressed things! Being a softie and a sap, I'm always a sucker for "the hero and the villain actually have a bond and care for each other on some level even if it's not the healthiest or most normal thing"... but considering the history between these two? Though the story in itself is very fun and entertaining, it never fails to break my heart a little.
And in all honesty, I might end up writing fanfictions about them. Fanfictions full of angst and pining and conflicted feelings and "we were never lovers but oh god we could have been --- if you hadn't screwed up everything in the end, at least" college stuff with a mess of obliviousness and repressed feelings, most likely.

House Isekai Primer: Auxiliary Members
House Isekai ARR Masterlist Here
-
They do not directly work for House Isekai and Garreg Mach, but they do often work together to complete a task or to stop a threat that puts all of Fodlan and the Tower in danger.
-
Duvalie (Origin: Trails of Cold Steel II) -
Relations: NOT a Friend(?)
Due to Duvalie's personality quirks, she is very easy to irritate, intentional or not. In part due to her young age, she dislikes being treated like a child. As a knight, she is extremely devoted to her lord, has a strong sense of justice, takes pride in her skills, and does not like incompetent fighters.
She has fought against and alongside the original and new Class VII several times, and no one is quite sure where she stands with them. All they know is that she is completely loyal to her master.
Whether she is a genuine threat or asset to House Isekai remains undecided.
===
Fireteam Alpha-Nine (Origin: Halo 3: ODST)-
Relations: Allies
Fireteam Alpha-Nine consists of four ODST's (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) from the year 2552. ODST's are an elite unit that specialize in orbital-dropped shock infantry and special warfare tactics. The squad is shown to be highly effective and lethal when carrying out their operations, and their bond appears to be unbreakable.
They are part of the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) and were in the middle of a war with an alien race known as the "Covenant".
They are on relatively good terms with members of House Isekai and Fodlan.
===
Edward Buck "Buck": Squad Leader
Edward Buck is a brave soldier who consistently displays strong leadership skills and perseverance. He is also adept at de-escalating situations and hyper-focusing a team on a task, especially under great duress.
Buck models a classical and robust strategy logic but also can think fast on his feet. He exemplifies a strong team ethic that includes a strong emphasis on the value of each member, even at the expense of the whole team. Despite those traits, his temper can sometimes get the better of him.
He finds House Isekai strange, but gets along well enough with the leaders, though he will never get used to seeing kids fight alongside them, and the fact they sometimes perform better than his own squad.
Buck gets along with Rean, Kazuma, Jean, Kairos, Kurt, and Sitri the most.
===
Taylor Henry Miles "Dutch": Heavy Weapons Specialist
Though Miles takes his occupation and duty very seriously, he is characterized by boisterous remarks and quips during combat.
Miles is religious, a world view he adopted during his studies in university, though he does not appear to take his faith with particular seriousness; he is known to occasionally "paraphrase" the Bible in a lighthearted manner.
Ignoring the fact he was thrown into another world with his squad, he doesn't find them too odd, and gets along great with both staff and students, acting as a "big brother" to everyone, according to Towa.
He gets along with Recette, Towa, Ash, Stefan, and Helena the most.
===
Kojo Agu "Romeo": Sharpshooter
Agu is shown interacting aggressively or abrasively with almost every squad member, as they will tell him to show some respect. He is good friends with Miles. He is a consummate combatant but also sees himself as something of a ladies' man, hence his nickname "Romeo".
In his old unit, Agu racked-up multiple code of conduct violations, any one of which should have resulted in demotion—or worse. However, he was kept because the UNSC were running out of battle tested snipers, and Agu was one of the best.
He does not get along with many of House Isekai's members, most notably being Kazuma, Jean, Kaeya, and Aigis. This fact doesn't particularly bother him, simply just wanting to leave Fodlan.
===
Michael Crespo "Mickey": Demolitions Specialist
Being an ODST was Crespo's favorite of the military positions in which he had served as of 2552. Crespo is highly creative, a risk-taker, and a daredevil.
Crespo had been a well trained pilot before becoming an ODST.
Crespo finds everything about House Isekai and Fodlan strange, but is excited at the prospect of finding new ways to make things explode, eyeing the Soldats and Knights in particular.
He gets along with Astrid, Kaeya, Musse, Diluc, and Amber the most.

THE NEXT MORNING
PINKERTON HQ, BLACKWATER
Gazing out a nearby window, Agent Fordham casually watched the streets of Blackwater as men and women paced around all over the place, traveling from one end of the city to another.
Business carried on as usual in the small town, and despite the damage Dutch’s men caused to the bank during the robbery, everything else seemed to functioning just fine.
The only thing that was missing from the bustling sight... was Arthur Morgan himself.
It had only been a couple of days since Agent Ross proposed his deal to that man, but they had yet to see any sign of the outlaw ever since then. The other Pinkertons patrolling The Great Plains reported no visuals of Mr. Morgan in the area, and his son was apparently nowhere to be found either.
Fordham liked to believe that they were still considering the decision and would show up at their headquarters eventually, but the pessimistic side of him knew better.
Arthur had no reason to trust the Pinkertons. Milton didn’t exactly make the best impression on Dutch all those years ago, so Fordham supposed it only made sense that Arthur would put as much distance between himself and Blackwater as possible... but he had hoped that the man would give Isaac a chance by turning himself in.
That boy was hardly a man yet, and he had already been thrown into the unforgiving world of outlaws. If there was any way to avoid killing him needlessly, Fordham was willing to take it.
Unfortunately, he doubted Ross felt the same.
“You think Mr. Morgan will accept our deal?” Fordham asked Edgar, glancing away from the window.
Ross leaned back in his desk’s chair and stuck a pipe between his lips, speaking through clenched teeth while he held the object in place.
“Unlikely,” he replied, bringing a flame to the pipe’s tip. “That man’s about as stubborn as Dutch van der Linde himself. Trust me, I’ve known him for many years now. It was pointless to attempt a deal with him. We should’ve arrested him and his son when we had the chance.”
Fordham hesitated, trying to remain as professional as possible. “But... don’t you think it’s worth a try? Saving his son, I mean. If Arthur accepts our deal, Isaac will perhaps have a chance to live like civilized folk. And carry on with his future.”
Edgar blew out a puff of smoke, exhaling deeply as he extinguished the match with a quick wave.
“Our focus is to protect law-abiding citizens, Archer.” He said in a bored tone. “When it comes to criminals or savages, we do not concern ourselves with their personal lives or well-being. All that matters is bringing them to justice. Of course, how we handle the situation depends on how they behave, but ultimately -- their future is not our concern. Their end is.”
Archer was reluctant to agree. “I understand, but in the end, criminals are still humans. Not all of them break the law for the same reason. In some cases, it’s greed. In others, power. But in Isaac’s case, it’s survival. You’ve read the files. He was forced into this life with no way out. Wouldn’t you say that someone at his age deserves to make a real life for himself?”
Still, Edgar’s mind remained unswayed. “It is not my place to decide, Archer. Nor is it yours. I’m only going along with your deal for now because I want to help you. But in the end, the final decision resides with the judge. If Arthur and Isaac put themselves in a position where they must be killed, then the only thing we need to worry about is pulling the trigger fast enough. Though, of course, obtaining them alive would be ideal.”
Fordham turned back to the window, trying to conceal the begrudging expression on his face.
“...I understand, sir.”
“Good.” Edgar said simply, standing up from the chair. “Then I trust that the next time we see Arthur or his son, you will not hesitate to bring them in?”
Archer shook his head staunchly. “No, sir. Of course not.”
The other agent nodded in approval. “Good. We have far too many issues to worry about already when it comes to the savages of this country. The last thing we need is complications within civilization itself. Now, if you’ll excuse me, Agent Fordham...”
Ross grabbed his coat and headed for the office’s door, leaving Archer to his own devices.
“...I’ve got something to attend to.”

MEANWHILE
THE GENERAL STORE, VALENTINE
Handing money over to the shopkeeper, Arthur stuffed some of the new provisions he’d just purchased into his satchel and began making his way for the shop’s exit, throwing a quick wave behind him before he took his leave.
“Thanks, mister.”
The shopkeeper gave him a polite nod. “Y’have a good day now, sir.”
Pushing the door open, Arthur stepped back outside into the muddy streets of Valentine as a chain of horses and wagons lazily rolled past him, their drivers still in the process of waking up.
It was chilly this morning, or at least chillier than the one before, and thanks to the bleak clouds veiling the sky, the sun was barely able to break through.
Arthur didn’t much like being this close to civilization, but he figured it’d be a good idea to grab some more food and winter clothing before heading up to Ambarino.
He sure hadn’t forgotten how cold it was in that region, and part of him wished they would never have to return there, but if there was any place in this country that would prevent the Pinkertons from tracking them, Arthur was willing to bet it’d be in the mountains.
The only thing that really worried him now, was Dutch. That man may not have been strong enough to survive the snow, but he was definitely crazy enough to try.
And that alone was enough to frighten Arthur.
“Hey, mister!” A voice suddenly called out, leading the man to glance to his side. “Over here!”
Standing next to the building, Arthur spotted an elderly man occupying the alleyway between the general goods store and the saloon, and it looked like his eyes were pinned on him at the moment. His hair was frazzled, his face was covered in dirt, and his ragged shirt almost resembled an old Union uniform.
As for his sleeves, one of them had been folded in half due to the amputated limb, and...
Wait a second.
Arthur narrowed his eyes in recognition.
“...Mickey? Is that you?”
The older man’s eyes twinkled upon hearing his name. “So you do remember me! Oh, I certainly remember you, mister. Your name’s Arthur, isn’t it? Like the king.”
Arthur nodded. “Yep.”
Mickey smiled warmly. “Oh, well... it’s good to see you again, friend. You was always kind to me. I remember. Everyone else in this town ignored me -- and they still do -- but you was always willing to lend an ear. I never forgot you.” He paused for a moment. “Hey, mister. I spoke with your son, y’know.”
That caught the outlaw’s attention. “You met Isaac?”
“Yeah,” the veteran replied. “I thought he was you. He looks just like you did, all them years ago. Though, he’s a bit angrier, I think. Not as nice as you was.”
Arthur sighed apologetically. “...Sorry ‘bout that. The boy’s been... goin’ through some things lately.”
Surprisingly, Mickey didn’t seem offended. “Oh no, it’s fine, mister. Your son might be angry, but I’ve seen that type of anger before. In the war, men would always get angry when they was hurt. They would end up hurting others. I think Isaac’s the same. He looks... sad. Just like you.”
The outlaw didn’t entirely know what to make of that. “Does he.”
“Yeah. I asked him why, but he didn’t say much. Just told me that you was dying.”
Arthur shook his head. “I already told him, I ain’t--” a short cough interrupted him. “--I ain’t... dying.”
Mickey gazed at him with concern. “You sure, buddy? Your boy’s right. You don’t look so good.”
The other man cleared his throat. “Well... I dunno. But I ain’t dead yet, and that’s all that matters.”
“But you will die.”
Arthur shrugged despondently. “Everyone dies.”
“Sure,” Mickey agreed, “but it still hurts. No one likes losing things. Things that they love. And your son, well... he don’t wanna lose you. Especially since he already lost his ma.”
Arthur cocked a brow at him. “You know about her?”
“The boy only told me a bit, but he said she died when he was real little. He couldn’t save her. And now, you’re dying, too. And he can’t save you either.”
The outlaw let out a breath. “But why take his anger out on me? Or you? It ain’t like I asked for this.”
“I don’t know.” Micky answered truthfully. “But I think you should talk with your son. I always feel better when I talk to people. Maybe you will, too.”
Arthur thought about it for a moment, eventually agreeing with the man.
“Yeah... I think he and I need to have a few words.”
The veteran seemed pleased with that. “Well, I wish you luck.”
“D’you know where he is?”
Mickey pointed to the saloon. “Yeah, I saw him head behind the saloon. He’s havin’ a drink there, I think.”
Arthur followed the man’s gaze. “What, at this hour?” He let out a sigh. “I guess I’ll go find him.”
The veteran said one last thing to Arthur, stopping the outlaw in his tracks just before he could leave.
“Hey, mister! Could you spare a dollar?”
Arthur nodded, reaching into his satchel. “Sure.”
Mickey gave him an appreciative look. “Thanks, friend. You take care of yourself now. We need more folks like you around here.”
The outlaw laughed at that, waving goodbye. “Oh, I ain’t too sure about that.”
Strolling away from the homeless veteran, Arthur wandered down the narrow alleyway and to the back of the saloon, right next to where the barber’s door was.
Sure enough, he found Isaac sitting on a barrel with a beer bottle in his hand, and it looked like Aldo was standing quietly beside him.
The young man didn’t look so good at the moment. His head was lowered in sorrow, and his shoulders slouched in discouragement. His eyes seemed to be glued on the ground in front of him, and if he noticed Arthur’s presence, he didn’t acknowledge it.
Something was definitely wrong. Arthur just wished the man would tell him what.
“Isaac?” He called out, walking up to him. “Whatcha doin’ out here?”
The boy remained seated, not even bothering to shift his gaze. “Just wanted to get away from everyone.”
Arthur glanced through the saloon’s windows, raising a brow at the incredible lack of customers.
“...There’s three people in there, Isaac. Bartender and barber included.”
Isaac sighed in annoyance. “Look, I just needed to be alone, okay?”
The outlaw chuckled softly, though not in a mocking manner. He stepped next to the young man and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms in a casual fashion.
“Listen, son... I spoke to Mickey.”
Isaac lifted his head in confusion. “...Who?”
“The homeless Union vet.” He explained.
“Oh, is that his name? Yeah, I spoke with him, too.”
“So I’ve been told.” Arthur fell silent for a second, taking on a more serious tone. “...He says you think I’m dying.”
Isaac took a swig of his drink. “I ain’t a child no more, Dad. I don’t think you’re dying. I know you are. That much is obvious.”
Arthur felt another series of coughs tickling his throat, but did his best to hold it back for now.
“Well, even if that’s true, I ain’t dead yet, Isaac. I’m still here. So let’s save the eulogies for when I’m actually gone.”
“...You say that like it’s so easy.”
Isaac finished the rest of his beer and set the bottle down with some force, clearly upset.
“Don’t you get it? Apart from mom, you’re the only person I’ve had in my life that I could actually trust. After she died, everyone else I met always wanted to kill me, or use me in some way. Even Shay. He never raised me for my sake. He only did it so he’d have another gun to order around. I guess...” he trailed off for a second, his voice becoming much softer, “...I guess I just got used to being alone. It was the only choice I had. There was no one else I could depend on.”
He turned to look at Arthur. “Now that I’ve met you though, I can do it again. And... it feels good, y’know. To be able to trust someone. To have someone that... you love.”
Isaac returned to his irritated nature, hopping off the barrel. “But now you’re sick. And dying. And I’m gonna be left alone. Again.”
The boy began to walk off, causing Arthur to pace after him.
“I understand that, Isaac, but it ain’t like I chose this. You think I wanted to get sick?”
Isaac rested a hand on Aldo’s saddle, letting out a deep sigh.
“No. I... I don’t. I know you didn’t. I’m just...” he took a breath, struggling to get the right words out, “...I wish things was different, alright? I wish I could help you. I wish... you were okay.”
Arthur put a hand on Isaac’s shoulder, trying to reassure the boy.
“I know, kiddo. I do, too. But the truth is... we can’t always control life. Sometimes, life kicks us in the ass and expects us to cope whether we’re ready for it or not. And we can’t control it when that happens. But what we can control, is how we deal with it.”
Arthur stepped closer to Isaac, looking him in the eye. “Listen, it’s clear to both of us that I ain’t got much time left in this world. Whether that means I have three months or three years, I don’t know. But I ain’t gonna be around forever. Unlike what happened with Eliza though, we’re prepared this time. We have the luxury of knowin’ what to expect. So we can kick and scream at the world for being unfair, or we can make use of the time we have left together.”
He paused, glancing down at the ground. “This is the only chance we’ll get to make things right, Isaac. Let’s not waste it.”
Taking in everything Arthur just said, Isaac responded with nothing but a profound silence and gazed blankly at the distant horizon, his eyes carrying a heavy sense of exhaustion within them.
It was difficult for Arthur, watching his son go through this. No parent alive wanted to tell their own child that they were dying, but Arthur learned long ago that it was impossible to live a bad life and expect good things to happen.
He wished he could be there to see Isaac grow into an old man or start a family of his own, but this was the reality they had to deal with.
Arthur’s sins were finally catching up to him, and Isaac was going to pay the price.
“...Hey, Dad.” The young man said, getting his father’s attention.
Arthur threw him a curious look. “Yeah?”
Isaac’s brow furrowed in guilt. “I’m... sorry for what I said yesterday. I know I was pretty harsh.”
The older man wasn’t too bothered by it. If anything, part of him felt bad for snapping at the kid after he expressed his frustration.
“Harsh? Yes. Wrong? Well, not entirely.”
Isaac looked down in shame. “No, I was wrong. You may not’ve been there much when I was a kid, but I know you wanted to be. The truth is... I didn’t mean a goddamn word of what I said. I don’t wanna be anything like Micah. Or Dutch. Or Shay. I wanna be like you.”
Arthur shook his head in disagreement.
“No, Isaac. You don’t. When this is all over... you’re gonna be your own man. A better man.”
The boy seemed lost. “But how am I gonna do that?”
Arthur smirked warmly. “Well, that’s the beauty of it. It’s entirely up to you.”
Leaving Isaac to his thoughts, the older man patted him on the shoulder and beckoned the kid to follow him into the street, eager to get a head start on their journey to Ambarino.
Despite being somewhat conflicted about their future, Arthur suspected the young man felt slightly better now. He still carried that same gloomy look in his eye as before, but his demeanor didn’t appear as solemn anymore.
He seemed... different. Hopeful. A little sad perhaps, but unwilling to give up.
There was a newfound sense of determination in his step, and even though Arthur could clearly see that Isaac was still hurting over his father’s illness, he knew that the young man would pull through.
He was strong. Much stronger than he realized. Arthur just wished Isaac would put that strength to good use.
He seemed to have a habit of getting lost in the past. Everything he did revolved around his desire for revenge, and Arthur could only hope that once his time came, Isaac wouldn’t live the rest of his life trying to avenge his death.
There was so much more in the world that he could experience. So much for him to do.
Arthur’s only wish now, was that he’d be able to make Isaac see that.
~~~~~~~~~~
A FEW HOURS LATER
THE VAN DER LINDE CAMP
“...Goddamn. You are one, ugly bastard.” Bill murmured, observing the fresh wounds on Micah’s face. The man had just woken up from his beating and was currently sitting under a makeshift tent, attempting to get a better look at his injuries.
“Well, I wouldn’t be if you’d have gotten to me sooner. Where the hell was you when Joe and I was doin’ all the work?”
Bill defended himself. “Hey, I was keepin’ a lookout! Just like you fellas told me to. Don’t act like I wasn’t doin’ my job.”
Micah chuckled sarcastically, glowering at the other man. “Well, you wasn’t. Couldn’t even see Arthur ridin’ towards us at full speed. You only came runnin’ after Joe was shot. I dunno if you’re aware of this, Marion, but the whole point of a goddamn lookout is to make sure that doesn’t happen!”
Bill lurched forward out of anger. “Hey, don’t call me that!”
The one-eyed man didn’t back down. “Oh, sorry. Would you prefer ‘moron?’ It’d be more fitting, anyhow.”
Bill pointed a finger at Micah, only to end up clenching it into a fist as he grumbled to himself in frustration.
“You... you don’t...” he waved a dismissive hand, walking away from the man. “Y’know what, forget it. Dutch can look after your goddamn wounds himself.”
Micah laughed, taunting Bill as he stormed off in the opposite direction. “Yeah, sure. Drink yourself into a stupor, why don’t you? Leave the real work to the big boys. Heheh.”
The other man shook his head in anger. “You’re a fool, Micah! A goddamn fool!”
Watching Bill retreat to the opposite end of the camp, Micah relaxed into his bedroll again and chortled lowly to himself, amused at Williamson’s annoyance.
He didn’t know how on Earth that man was still alive, considering how easily he got riled up. Most folks with a temper like that got shot at one point or another, and yet, Bill was still here. Keeping Dutch company even after Arthur, John, and Hosea were all gone.
Who would’ve thought?
Dragging himself over to the small, circular mirror by his tent, Micah slipped off the final bandage around his head and unveiled the nasty gash underneath, revealing a permanently closed eye.
Thanks to the laceration Isaac gave him the previous day, his top eyelid had been sealed shut, and a diagonal scar now carved its way through his brow.
Micah’s vision had been cut in half, and yet, the man only found himself feeling twice as eager to put Morgan’s brat into the ground.
Who the hell did that little boy think he was? Attacking their gang and killing off their members, and then trying to run away from it? No one just... attacked the Van der Linde gang and lived.
Micah had half a mind to give Isaac the same treatment Arthur gave him down at the river. That kid stole their money, ruined their supplies, and caused their gang to shrink to just three men. Two of which were utter fools.
The only problem he had now was actually finding the boy. Lord only knew how far he and Arthur had traveled by this point, and judging by the lack of updates from Dutch, Micah assumed their almighty leader wasn’t having any more luck with tracking Arthur down himself.
He’d have to think of an alternate method. A quicker method.
But most importantly, he’d need help.
“Micah!” Dutch called from behind, his reflection growing in the mirror as he approached the small tent. “You’re awake.”
“Hey, boss.” Micah greeted, turning to face Dutch. The other man paused upon seeing his new scar.
“...Arthur surely did a number on your eye, didn’t he?”
“It was Isaac who did it,” he corrected. “That boy’s young and stupid, but he knows how to use a knife.”
Dutch sighed worriedly. “Oh, he knows how to do much more than that, I’m afraid.” A strong cough escaped him, causing him to spit on the grass before wiping his mouth. “I spoke with Bill. He says Arthur killed Joe.”
“Yeah. His body flowed downstream.”
“Well, we don’t have the time to retrieve him. Let alone bury him. Right now, the three of us need to focus on findin’ Arthur, and puttin’ him down for good. Problem is, he ain’t alone.”
Micah held up a thoughtful finger, standing up from his bedroll. “Well, y’know, Dutch, before Bill tried to play mother hen with me earlier... I was thinking. We all know Arthur’s big and bad, but no matter how strong that man is, he’s bound to have a weakness. A soft spot where we can hit him real hard, and hurt him real good.”
Dutch had a feeling he already knew what that weakness was. “Go on.”
Micah continued with his explanation, slowly pacing back and forth in front of his tent. “The boy, Dutch. You’ve seen how much he means to Arthur. Hell, he was willin’ to bail on you for the kid. That’s gotta mean something.”
The other man placed a foot on a nearby stump, resting his elbows on his knees. “So, what? You sayin’ we should kill Isaac first?”
“No, Dutch. Don’t you see?” Micah strolled up to the man, placing a hand on his shoulder. “We don’t need to kill Arthur at all. The only thing we gotta do is put a good ol’ fashioned bullet through Isaac’s skull, and the rest will handle itself. You’ll have your revenge, and we’ll have one less problem to worry about.”
Unsurprisingly, Dutch didn’t seem to fully approve of the plan.
“I don’t know, Micah. I...” his voice tugged with heartache, “...I hate Arthur... for what he did to me. And I want nothin’ more than to make him pay for it. But the pain of losing a child...” Dutch gazed downward, “there ain’t nothing that can compare to it. Even a traitorous bastard like Arthur doesn’t deserve that.”
Still, Micah persisted. “Why? What does Isaac mean to you for you to spare him?”
Dutch brushed his hand off. “It ain’t about Isaac. It’s about Arthur. You know the history between us. How much we’ve been through. How long we’ve known each other.”
Micah raised his hands in a diplomatic manner. “Of course, Dutch. Of course. But... let me put it this way.” He leaned closer to the older man. “...Arthur’s your son. I mean, he may as well be. You raised him ever since he was a boy. You taught him to read, you taught him to shoot. You’re his father, Dutch. And yet, despite all that effort to keep him safe, and to keep him alive... he still left you when you needed him most. He left you alone.”
Dutch listened intently, causing Micah to reel in the line now that he had him hooked.
“So, I says we go find Isaac, kill him, and leave Arthur alone. He’ll share the same pain you felt, and he’ll know what it means to turn on our gang. Just like you wanted.”
The man let out a sharp sigh. “That ain’t happening.”
“Well, at least consider it. It ain’t just about the sentiment, after all, Dutch. There’s also the, uh... strategic aspect of it, if you will. So long as Isaac lives, we’re gonna have a helluva time tryin’ to reach Arthur. That boy’s a menace, and he’s nearly as rage-driven as you. He’s got to go.”
Dutch rubbed his chin in thought, appalled by the idea of taking Arthur’s child away from him, but admittedly conceding Micah’s point.
“I will... think about what you’ve said.”
Micah appeared pleased with that. “Thank you, Dutch. That’s all I ask.” He began to stroll away from him. “Trust me, boss... this is all for the good of the gang.”
